FOCUS ON... BENJAMIN LEROUX

26/04/2024
Benjamin Leroux is a true Burgundy aficionado. Born in Beaune in 1975, Leroux didn't hail from a winemaking dynasty, but his passion for wine ignited early on. At just 15, he enrolled in the local viticulture school, determined to carve out a career in winemaking.

His apprenticeship under Pascal Marchand proved transformative. Marchand's focus on biodynamics and eco-friendly farming deeply influenced Leroux's approach. Leroux honed his craft across the globe, from Bordeaux to Oregon, soaking up knowledge like a sponge.

In 1999, Leroux landed his big break at Domaine du Comte Armand in Pommard. At the age of 24, he took the helm, steering the estate towards organic and biodynamic viticulture. Over fifteen vintages, Leroux's meticulous stewardship elevated the domaine to new heights.

In 2007, Leroux embarked on his own winemaking venture, establishing a small négociant business in Beaune. Today, his domaine spans eight hectares, encompassing premier and grand cru vineyards across Burgundy. Leroux's wines are renowned for their purity of fruit and judicious use of oak, reflecting his unwavering commitment to quality and authenticity.

What makes Leroux a perfect fit for Brompton is his reverence for the land. He's a staunch advocate for organic and biodynamic farming, believing that great wine starts with healthy vines. Leroux's dedication to sustainable practices shines through in every bottle.

With his sights set on the future, Leroux continues to explore new vineyard acquisitions and refine his winemaking techniques. Whether it's a Pinot Noir or a Chardonnay, you can trust that Leroux's wines are a true reflection of Burgundy's famous terroir.
