Introducing... Hecht & Bannier / Cellier des Dames

29/04/2026
We're very excited to announce we're now importing the exceptional wines of Hecht & Bannier / Cellier Des Dames to the UK. We tasted these last year, and have been looking forward to introducing them to our audience ever since. Beautiful Burgundy, and one of the best Picpouls we've tried... seriously nice stuff.

The story starts with longtime friends Gregory Hecht and François Bannier: the founders of both brands. They initially became pally whilst studying wine in Burgundy, and on graduating founded Hecht & Bannier. They spent over two decades redefining the potential of the South of France - often dismissed by 'serious' wine-lovers as an area for bulk wine - through their Hecht & Bannier winery, and continue to do so today. This is where our Picpoul comes from.

However, in 2019 they made a move into the high stakes game of Burgundy winemaking. A full circle moment, returning to where their wine partnership and friendship began. They founded the Domaine du Jardin des Dames there, and in both projects have been able to maintain the same commitments to high standards in the vineyard, and good wine in the glass.

And so without further ado, here are just a few reasons we're into Hecht & Bannier:

Firstly, their mission with Hecht & Bannier was and is simple (but profound): to be the 'contemporary messenger' of 2,000 years of Mediterranean wine history. They focus on the diverse landscapes found in Languedoc, Roussillon, and Provence, working with dedicated winegrowers and cooperatives to bottle a true expression of each appellation.

Secondly, their commitment to the planet is just as strong as their commitment to quality. They are B Corp Certified - one of only a handful of wineries globally to hold this prestigious status - and at H&B they are dedicated to reaching 100% organic production.

And lastly, of course, their wines. Whether from the South of France or the prestigious Burgundian slopes, what they produce is unpretentious, approachable and enjoyable. Just how we like it.

To us at Brompton, they represent the best elements of modern French winemaking. They aren't just making affordable organic wine; they are making benchmark wines that consistently earn 90+ points from critics like Wine Spectator, all while protecting the environment and supporting local farming heritage.

So, from the Mediterranean coast to the heart of Burgundy... here's what's shipping to Brompton! We hope to showcase the versatility of Hecht & Bannier, spanning from their roots to their new and refined "Nouvelle Vague" and Burgundian explorations.

Picpoul de Pinet
Hecht & Bannier Picpoul de Pinet
If you want to taste the Med in a glass: this is it! Grown in vineyards on the edge of the Étang de Thau, this 100% Piquepoul Blanc is crunchy, vivid, aromatic, and carries a distinct salty wave. Picpoul can be bland - not this one. Perfect for summer apéritifs, the best pairing for oysters, tapas, or a sunny afternoon in the garden.

Bourgogne 2023, Jeanne La Folle, Pinot Noir
Jeanne la Folle Pinot Noir
A vibrant Pinot Noir balancing Burgundian tradition with a touch of historical drama. Sourced from the limestone-clay soils of Moroges and Mercurey, it offers a classic expression of the Côte Chalonnaise. Lively, fruity, a quintessential Pinot Noir nose of juicy red fruits contrasted by savoury undertones of blackberry bush and laurel.

Rully 2023, Saint-Jacques, Chardonnay
Rully 2023
from the east-facing Saint-Jacques climat is a masterclass in precision and age-old vine character. Crafted from Chardonnay vines ranging between 30 and 50 years old, the wine benefits from careful temperature control and a gentle direct crushing of whole clusters to maintain its aromatic purity. After a 12-month slumber in seasoned French oak, it emerges with a sophisticated bouquet of hawthorn and angelica. On the palate, this Rully distinguishes itself with beautiful bitters and a fine mineral structure derived from its clay-limestone terroir.

Givry 2023 Les Millerands PINOT NOIR
Givry "Les Millerands" 2023
A silky, delicate expression of Pinot Noir, sourced from three prized hillside plots in the heart of Givry. These 45-year-old vines, preserved through selection massale, thrive in deep clay-limestone soils that ensure consistent vine hydration and fruit depth. To capture the vintage's natural elegance, the winemaking includes 20% whole-crop fermentation and a patient eight-month maturation in French oak. The result is a wine brimming with appeal, offering a sophisticated bouquet of redcurrant jelly, elderflower, and violets, finished with an intriguing hint of smoked tea.

Whether you are looking for a salty, refreshing white for a seafood dinner or an elegant Pinot Noir for your next Sunday roast, Hecht & Bannier brings the sunshine and soul of France straight to your table. Explore the full Hecht & Bannier range on our shop now!
