At Brompton Wine, we do more than sell wine. We source outstanding, independent grower wines with a genuine story to tell, we help hospitality teams sell them with confidence, and we bring people together to taste and celebrate them. Here's how we can help you.
Who We Are
Brompton Wine's mission is to seek out independent, small grower wines with a strong sense of the land and a story to tell. We search for outstanding wines that are true to their terroir, their region and their roots. The winemakers we work with are driven by a deep understanding of viticulture and huge pride in the wines they've crafted: we're lucky enough to travel, taste and rigorously select these gems to bring to you.
Richard Household
Richard's journey into wine started young; with winegrower grandparents in Somerset, family gatherings at harvest time left a lasting impression. That early interest grew into a serious pursuit of wine knowledge, with regular trips to France in his late teens sparking a lifelong love of all things vinous. He set up on his own in 1996, driven by a desire to source quality wines from passionate producers, and today he's the owner of Brompton Wine and founder of the Wimbledon Wine School.
Richard is widely travelled and has strong links with independent growers worldwide, from the great names of France to small growers in Tasmania and South Africa. He holds the WSET Level 4 Diploma, has completed the WSET Educator Programme, and is also a wine judge and consultant. There's nothing he enjoys more than sharing his knowledge and passion for wine… as our regular dinner attendees can attest!

Training can be tailored to match wines to new menus, or run regularly to build general wine knowledge and bring a team together. We're flexible around your business: whatever works best for you.
What sets us apart is independence. We're happy to taste and talk through wines we haven't sold ourselves. That means no vested interest in pushing our own portfolio, only in what's genuinely best for your customers. We start by listening to you, the business owner, to understand your aims, then build a training plan around them.

Wine Dinners & Events
Our wine dinners are intimate evenings combining a three-course meal with carefully chosen wines built around a set theme. They're enjoyable, social occasions suitable for serious wine lovers as well as anyone who fancies a good evening out.
From focused looks at classic regions like Burgundy and Bordeaux, to the long-running Judgement of Wimbledon showdown, there's always something on the calendar.
