---

As with everyone reading this, we have been horrified and upset reading the news over the past few weeks as the crisis in Ukraine has developed. It has been difficult to get excited about our upcoming events whilst watching what is happening. It is terrible feeling powerless. We have been inspired by the fundraising and efforts to provide aid that have been implemented so quickly, and in particular those by our colleagues in the hospitality industry.

To that end, we will donate 100% of proceeds from this month's wine dinner to the DEC.

We think it is important to still enjoy ourselves - it does nobody any good if we do not – but it is also important to us that we show support to Ukraine.

If you have already bought a ticket to the wine dinner on the 29th, then all £80 of that ticket price will be going to the appeal, as with any other tickets sold between now and then.

I am sure you are donating and helping out in your own way already, but it would be lovely if you are able to come together with us and make a contribution via this wine dinner.

---

Our wine dinners for the past little while have tended to focus on the big hitters - Bordeaux, Italy, and Spain most recently.

Germany & Austria - whilst far from unknown - may not be quite as mainstream, but they do produce some of the most exciting wines in the world, particularly in recent years.

As well as exceptional expressions of popular varieties like Riesling (which originated here) and Pinot Noir, there are also incredibly unique native grapes like Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch and Grüner Veltliner to discover. Add in some really world-class winemaking and it's a recipe for brilliance.

If you're a fan already, then you don't need to be persuaded: come along and enjoy the evening with me! But if you are yet to be introduced to these really wonderful wines, then consider this an invitation to make their acquaintance...

Some producers we will drink from on the night : Weingut Bründlmayer (Austria), Weingut Reichsrat von Buhl (Pfalz), Weingut Dönnhoff - covering Sekt, Riesling, Grüner Veltliner, Spätburgunder and Zweigelt. It's time to make some new friends!

Our dinner will have German and Austrian leanings, and will be served up by the good folks Limpet and David of Café Tangerine.
