Bourgogne Chardonnay, Les Chapitres de Jaffelin, AOC Bourgogne

Produced by Maison Jaffelin

Jaffelin, the smallest of the great Burgundy wine houses, entered a new chapter in its history in 2004, when it completely renovated its vat room and fitted it out with high precision equipment. Marinette Garnier, oenologist-winemaker, creates these "hand-made" wines in this magical location in the historical centre of Beaune. Since then, Jaffelin continues to present the very best of the finest Burgundy terroirs within a comprehensive collection of wines, which are recognised in prestigious wine competitions and appreciated by connoisseurs around the world.

Tasting Notes

One of the great skills of a winemaker is knowing how to blend parcels of wine made from grapes sourced from different terroirs. I often prefer these blends to many wines from single vineyards. It allows the winemaker to add key ingredients from these different parcels and make the whole better than the sum of its parts. It is so bright and generous, with ripe citrus fruit and a hint of nectarine with a rich texture, all held together on the shoulders of the well-crafted acidity … like Atlas holding the world. It is a wonderful teaser as to why we all get so excited by Chardonnay and, in particular, Chardonnay from the Côte d’Or
