Hommage à Jacques Perrin Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2018
A rare parcel selection blend of 60% Mourvèdre, 20% Grenache and 10% Syrah and 10% Counoise. Aged, liked Beaucastel, in large oak foudre but bottled 8 months later. Production is very limited, only one “foudre” equating to 5,000 bottles was produced.

Tasting Notes
Warm climate aromatics of fruit liqueur, leather and salt on the nose. Dark Crème de Mûre fruit dominates the palate, a little closed at first as you’d expect with the power and structure suppressing flavour initially. A second sip and a wave of sunny Mediterranean characteristics soon hit you - dried herbs, garrigue and salt washing through the ripe, dark brambly fruits. The warming, Provençal flavours are lifted on the finish by a noticeable, fresh violet touch. The influence of Mourvèdre here is clear with its density, perfume and mouth-watering savouriness. A big, rich and wild wine adequately tempered by Mourvèdre’s calming influence.
