2012 Château Palmer

A great result for this Chateau this vintage. After the First Growths this is traditionally one of the highest performing châteaux, along with Ducru Beaucaillou, Cos d'Estournel and Leoville Las-Cases and it is always in high demand. With more Merlot than Cabernet in the blend and a miserly yield of only 28hl/ha , this is an inky black cassis filled wine, dense, beautifully polished and finely textured.

Vintage: 2012
Grape Varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot

Produced by Château Palmer

Château Palmer’s wines. Its words. Different expressions of a single terroir, born of a common philosophy. Homages to a natural environment and to the traditions of an estate, over time they begin to resonate. Not with power, but with finesse, with elegance. With age, grand crus, the words of Château Palmer, take on ever greater meanings.

Tasting Notes

Robert Parker 96/100
The final blend was 48% Merlot, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot.

Château Palmer is one of the vintage's superstars. Opaque purple, with a gorgeous nose of blueberry, blackberry fruit, licorice, incense and graphite, the wine has a multi-dimensional, skyscraper-like richness, stunningly well-integrated acidity, tannin, wood, and alcohol, a finish of close to 45 seconds and a full-bodied mouthfeel. This is a great wine from Margaux in 2012 and one of the vintage's most remarkable efforts.
